As I've previously mentioned, ages upon ages ago I purchased Red Velvet's DIY Dress up course, in an effort to start improving my sewing skills. At long last, I started to (although slowly) work on the projects in that course. Number two, was this cute little tote bag.
I, of course, balked at the idea of making yet another bag. I have tote bags coming out of my ears, and the last thing I needed was another. But since my last few attempts at making linings have ...not been very successful, I decided to give it a go, none the less.
There's this adorable stripy fabric which I've had for years (I'm pretty sure I was given it by my Nan when she first started to teach me to sew), and I've loved it but never had the project for.
How adorable is this bag? I'm loving it, it's the perfect size! Not to mention, the straps are at a pretty awesome length, rather than sitting awkwardly between my armpit and my hips, the top sits just above my hip, which I think is fabulous.
I really couldn't be happier.
There's also this other fabric which I've had for about as long as the stripy one, but have never been able to figure out what to do with it. Admittedly, it's not a very cute pattern, or at least, I'm not a huge fan of it. I also have a lot of it. So I made another bag out of it.
See, it's a random gem pattern, which really isn't too pretty.
I've been thinking of getting some plastic gems and gluing them on, hehe.
My stripy bag has now found a really great new use, as my piano teaching bag! It fits my aural test, sight reading and scale books in perfectly, plus a little entertainment if one of my students doesn't turn up ;)
Hopefully I keep posting more regularly! (I've been forgetting to take photos in daylight hours, hehe).
Until next time,
