If there's one kind of party that I like, it's one without too loud music and the ability to have a conversation with people. When I was invited to a surprise garden party for one of my close high school friends, of course I had to say yes and of course I would decide to make a cute dress. After all, my wardrobe only has one floral dress (...wow, I should remedy that soon).
Um, I mean, I wanted to up my sewing skills.
When I had to choose a pattern, I found this one (it's a New Look pattern - misses 6742, I so recommend it with edits) in my pattern drawer, so I decided to use it, changing the skirt waistband from the hips to the waist. Because it's more flattering on me and all.
I love it! Turns out, finding a light floral patterned (which has pink in it, I'll get to that!) fabric in the middle of an Australian winter is harder than I thought... It was worth it though! To explain my need for pink, when I was cleaning out my fabric drawers I discovered that I had half made this dress previously. The fabric was way too thin for me to want to wear out in public (hindsight's a bitch, huh), so I turned the skirt into a petticoat and used the top as lining.
Can't wait to make this pattern again, I do need more cute dresses for my teaching prac coming up in a few months...
As always,
Until next time,
