And here's what you missed on Glee! ...Chrissie Jay Sews.
I'm making a coat! Burda Young 6921! It's my first ever coat. I'm documenting the process as I go, to hopefully maybe inspire someone to make a coat for themselves, whether it's the same one or otherwise.

Monday


 This absurd lapel! I have been avoiding the coat all afternoon because of the lapel. Just can't figure out how to attached the facing to the top collar.
My method? Assemble how it should look when all sewn together (thank goodness for some experience with facings), pin then sew. It worked! I then decided to do anything else. My attention span for this specific coat is dwindling... Nooooo!



Tuesday - Wednesday - Thursday
Wake up - coffee - work - one of the following
1) grocery shop
2) puzzle over the next set instructions for The Coat
3) cover laptop & phone case in Spoonflower's wallpaper. Laptop has worked beautifully, it doesn't stick to my fabric phone case (wasn't expecting it to, was just hoping it would). Much cheaper than a laptop decal for my weirdly sized laptop!

go to bed.

Friday

Fabric for next coat arrived! Really want to cut it out, but I am resisting temptation for now... Followed the instructions and hand basted around the outside. Then I did absolutely nothing else on this coat. I do have a wonderfully clean kitchen now, both sides of my next Astoria sewn up and I've re-threaded my (...insert all the curse words) overlocker twice.

Saturday

 Hem, hemmed by machine (...it said hand baste. I went "NUH UH" and basted by machine). Sleeves basted by hand, because ew by machine.

Damn these sleeves. Easy to make the sleeves themselves. Was so proud of myself when I pinned then sewed them in.
I sewed the sleeves in sideways. I thought I'd followed the instructions, apparently not.
Going to leave it and unpick tomorrow. Might finish that Astoria tonight, we'll see.


Sunday
I have unpicked the sleeves and that's all I'm doing on this coat today. Hopefully motivation comes back, especially since I've finished that Astoria (see Insta) and a PJ top, with plans to make a few more easy projects (or ones I know I'll be successful at) this afternoon.

Starting to wonder if I can get this finished next week! We'll see. Tune in next Monday for updates!
